125 Years of Molineux

Attached is a copy of the downloadable brochure – an extract from the excellent programme – celebrating 125 years at the Golden Palace. Many fans tweeted in their experience for that but Wolves are now asking

“We now want to hear more from supporters looking back over their time supporting the club in terms of memories of their first ever game. We would then like to feature those memories on the official website and club’s social media channels over the coming weeks. Don’t forget our book competition

Dirty Northern B*st*rds and Other tales from the Terraces.

A great new book of fan chants – back as far as Elgar and a freebie against the tractor boys from the author. The book is available printed or digital

and you can win a copy too

Tim Marshall is the Diplomatic Editor for Sky News and wrote

WOLVES

Things are looking up. You got rid of, Hard To Sing His Name - Michael Ihiekwe, and brought in, Massive Potential For A Good Chant - Rajiv van La Parra. Mid table respectability beckons.

I’m glad you held on to Nouha Dicko and Bakary Sako because the song for them is tops, even if you did steal it from Man City and their legendary Toure brothers chant.

Then again, apart from Sunderland, all football fans are magpies. You’re allowed to nick songs. We all do it. Last season Brentford nicked ‘Knees Up Mother Brown’. They were already promoted and news came through of Fulham’s relegation. Up went the song - ‘Bees up - Fulham down’. Genius in short form.

I’m confident Wolves fans will rise to challenge of the 2014/15 season. While researching my book ‘Dirty Northern Bastards’ I came across many a top chant from Molineux including references to bus stops in Aston, Tesco carrier bags, and the idea that West Bromwich is not the ideal place to live despite its local amenities and proximity to travel routes including the M5.

Wolves get a few mentions in the book but mostly due to the chant written by one of your most famous fans – Edward Elgar. His ‘He banged the leather for goal’ never went down as well as the tune to Land of Hope and Glory (which he also wrote) but it did provide me with the image of Elgar, chest puffed out, standing on a stanchion and leading the South Bank in a chant of ‘Who art thou?’

In 1898 the Times were a bit sniffy about the song writing that ‘the melody may be complex for the Grandstand’ which is a bloody cheek seeing as I’ve heard you on the telly getting your tonsils round Verdi’s ‘La donna e mobile’ from Rigoletto with ‘Your ground too big for you’.

But what’s with the ‘We all f*cking hate Leeds!’ and ‘We all hate Leeds scum!’ songs? Given that a favourite Leeds song is ‘We’re Leeds United – we don’t give a f*ck’ it’s not a problem you singing that – it’s just -why do you care so much?

Anyway, welcome back to the Championship, which as we know, is the new Premiership. As you’re back you get to play Ipswich again – so here’s one for free. If their keeper, Dean Gerken, lets one in in an embarrassing manner, you may well wish to further embarrass him with ‘Stayed in a burger, you should have stayed in a burger’.

Tim Marshall’s’ Dirty Northern Bastards and other Tales from the Terraces’ is on sale now

http://www.amazon.co.uk/22Dirty-Northern-Bastards-Other-Terraces/dp/1783960604

Tim’s twitter account is @itwitius and the publishers are at @eandtbooks

To win a copy of the book either give the answer to this question to Dave Slape or enter on-line at http://www.londonwolves.com/comps.html

You might recall that we ran a competition to win a t-shirt with Elgar’s chant, “He kicked the leather for goal”, on it – but who was Elgar talking about in this first ever footy chant?

The competition closes at 1pm on Saturday September 20th before the Trotters match. Usual rules apply – one winner drawn from all correct entries.

Peter Abbott has only seen 13, or is it 20, matches so far this season as well as taken a holiday and already all three sides relegated from the Premier League have been seen off. And, in preparation, at last, a fan based book on the Sherpa Van Trophy winWolves fan Tim Gibbons writes

I writing a book from a fans view of Wolves’ Sherpa Van Trophy final success, the book will be self-published and will contain views from fans, funny stories, fans photos and a section detailing the players that were involved in the final. From looking on your website, I was noticed that you promoted the Sherpa Van reunion dinner held at Molineux on 25th September 2008. Do you have any photographs from the event, that could be used in my book. Ideally a photograph showing all the players at the event or similar. I would give acknowledgement in the book to who has provided the photographs and a link to your website within the book.

I would also welcome any stories/memories that London wolves supporters have of the game/day.

If you are interested in more information on the book, please visit my website dedicated to the book http://sherpawolves.wix.com/1988

Best wishes,

Tim Gibbons

Please contact Tim directly at sherpawolves@outlook.com if you can help with memories / pictures of the final or the campaign.

Due to ill health and pending work issues I'm pruning my programme collection, one such section is my Wolves stuff. Dating back to very early 70's (when I first went to Molineux) I have got majority of homes and aways since then. If you can ask anyone to send a list of what they require I'll be more than happy to help out. Very reasonable prices.
Thanks for your time

Frank’s For The Memory

At last, Waggy’s tales of Big Frank is nearly here - the 208-page hard-back publication has none other than Dave Wagstaffe as its author - never before has one Wolves player written a book about another - and is due out in August.    Waggy had badgered Frank Munro to tell his story for ages, but, sadly, their passing in the last two years meant it wasn’t completed.  However Thomas Publications havFrank_Munro_Ronnie_Allen_55ke taken on the completion and they are adding a special 'In Tribute To Frank' section at the back with subscriber names now being taken for the eagerly-awaited forthcoming biography of Frank Munro.

Frank's For The Memory – a name chosen by Frank and Waggy - was compiled by Waggy as a follow-up to the highly entertaining autobiography he penned several years ago (“Waggy’s Tales”). He was Frank's closest mate both in the Molineux dressing room and following the defender's return from Australia and chatted through his career with him during countless visits to his various homes.  David Instone assures us that it's a terrific read - even if Bill McGarry might not have been too impressed with everything in it! – but there are references to London Wolves.  He tells us that editor Steve Gordos has kindly agreed to donate his fee to two of the charities close to the duo's heart.

Anyone wishing to have their names in a special 'In Tribute To Frank' section at the back need only pre-purchase their copy at the standard price of £14.99 with free UK P&P. To reserve your copy and have your name, or that of a family member or friend in the back for posterity, please send a cheque, made payable to Thomas Publications, to them at 26 Park End, Newport, Shropshire, TF10 7JG by July 18th 2014. If you wish to discuss alternative methods of payment, please email David Instone (instone@blueyonder.co.uk) to do so.

June 2014

The Football League have released the fixtures for the coming SkyBet Football League Championship, but, of course, these are subject to change for television purposes.

Rajiv van la Parra '' Heerenveen Hero'' signed a three year contract on 10th June: http://youtu.be/D5XR0JPz42s another fast young player who should add to the excitement at Molineux. Also Tommy Rowe has signed http://www.wolves.co.uk/news/article/rowe-highlights-appeal-of-wolves-030614-1597575.aspx while both Dave Edwards (aka Duracell Dave) and Richard (the Stears) Stearman have both signed two year extensions.

London Wolves summer 2014 magazine

Steve’s excellent magazine will be with you soon – it is all ready to go – with just the fixture page being added. Included in this edition – a tribute to Bert and to the record breaking Champions, a review of Wolves Women’s season by “the little blonde one”, pictures from many of Roy’s oustanding social season events, Match Reports including Jody’s brilliant testimonial at Molineux with Craddocks galore on the score sheet (and no Phillips) and see if you can work out which match report carries the perhaps immortal line “(it just goes to show not even God is always ready to give the Pope a helping hand)”.

'Three Lions and an Anorak: an England World Cup Quiz Odyssey' The authors of this super quiz book Andrew &Anita Clark have put copies on special offer. Before England’s second fixture of the World Cup Thursday 19th , they are reducing the price of the book to £3.99 (inclusive of postage) when bought directly from the authors via the following Amazon link: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Three-Lions-Anorak-England-Odyssey/dp/1907516301/ref=aag_m_pw_dp?ie=UTF8&m=A1F97A5YM38X48 The price will be reduced at five o’clock and remain at £3.99 until the Uruguay versus England game kicks off at eight o’clock.

Despite its title, ‘three lions and an anorak’ is not just for anoraks! While admittedly the round ‘Did I Not Know That!’ is devoted to the more obscure England World Cup facts that only a true anorak will know, there is plenty for everyone. England’s World Cup songs, for instance, are covered in the round ‘We’re Singing for England!’ while some of our more infamous World Cup misdemeanours feature in ‘Infamy, Infamy, the Ref’s Got it in For Me!’ Other rounds include ‘Young Lions’, ‘Paying the Penalty’ (of course!), ‘1966 and All That’ and ‘Around the World in 14 Finals’. Overall, the book is organised into thirty themed rounds of varied questions and is light-hearted, quirky and entertaining. There is a ‘Look Inside’ facility on Amazon that allows you to view the Contents page of the book and also see the first two rounds of questions to whet your appetite. Any England fan will thoroughly enjoy the book and it will be an essential accessory at any World Cup party.

Competition

Congratulations to Stephen Goodey who won the copy of FIFA14 naming Ryan Green as the youngest Wales player in 1998. Ryan only made 8 appearances for Wolves and is currently at Port Talbot Town. His prize was fulfilled by the high street electronic store Cash Generator.

May 2014

Congratulations to Kenny for (rightly) winning the LMA League 1 manager of the year, although he had to share it with Russell Slade; it did look as though George Gavin seemed a bit intimidated when KJ did the summarising for the first play off semi. Congratulations to the Os and the Millers on their Wembley trip.

We’ve teamed up with the Cash Generator Gaming team to give you the chance to win Fifa 14!

All you have to do to be in with a chance to win, is to answer this simple question:

“In 1998, which Wolves player became the youngest to be capped by Wales?”

For existing or new members, correct entries will be entered twice – to double your chances of winning! To enter, just email the name of the Wolves player to comp@londonwolves.com – please use the subject FIFA14.

The Winner will be chosen at random from all correct entries, and will receive a copy of the game on the platform of their choice (Xbox 360 / PS3 / PS4 / PSP / PC / Xbox One / PS2 / PS Vita / Wii / 3DS) (and, no, the question was not set up just for Roy). We do not pass on email addresses other than that of the winner to fulfil the prize. The competition closes with the final whistle of the League 1 Play Off final on Sunday 25th May 2014 and the winner will be notified on Monday 26th.

These details are also on the website at http://www.londonwolves.com/#fifa14

June 2014 Newsletter

Steve is preparing a bumper edition with his usual juicy match reports (with slape-quality title puns) which include the highly successful JC6testimonial where Jody’s son Toby scored a winning penalty and Kevin Phillips took his final boos at Molineux as well as the party at Brisbane Road led out by young Tommy. It also features the many recent and excellent social events arranged by Roy and much more. It will be published after the Football League release the Championship fixtures (9:00am Wednesday June 18th).

Some Dates for your diary

London Wolves Dickens Walk

Geoff writes: Following a pleasant stroll along the Thames last year, we have "Great Expectations" for the Wolves walk this July. Join "Our Mutual Friend" Geoff on a tour of Dickens' London and check out the many places where Charles Dickens lived and worked and used as the basis for many of his novels. There will be MANY opportunities to stop at interesting real ale pubs en-route, not a "Bleak House" among'st them! So, no excuses about being on "Hard Times", come and join us on Saturday 5th July meeting at "The Penderels Oak", 283-288 High Holborn, at 11am - or earlier if you wish as the pub opens at 8am - for a 12 noon start. Nearest stations are Chancery lane on the Central line and Holborn on the Central and Piccadilly lines.

Stad-MK inspired T-shirt

We heard from Gabe, an art student with a very nice t-shirt offer

Hello, my name is Gabriel Cuthbert, I have recently started a clothing company called "Art of Football". I have created a Wolves design to celebrate their promotion, it is from the away match to MK Dons. I am a 19 yr old art student therefore my marketing funds are limited, it would therefore be fantastic and much appreciated if you could share this with your followers? http://art-of-football.com/collections/all/products/we-conquered-limited-edition

April 2014

First, congratulations to Kenny for finishing off an outstanding month by winning the Sky Bet League One manager of the month award. P8 W6 D1 L1 and top all month.

You might recall Robert participating in the pre Bees match video. If anyone is interested in representing London Wolves at a three way session on Easter Saturday or Sunday with Os and Bees before the match on Sky on Easter Monday please let me know.

While we’re on the Os please give the Wolves mascot a special cheer when he leads the team out. When Dave, Stuart and Peter met Rupert from Wolves’ shirt sponsors What House on the train, he said we should do something with the shirts. He very generously allowed us to nominate the mascot for our last “home” match of the season in London. So big applause for John Webb’s grandson Tommy who as a home STH travels up to Molineux for all the home matches as well as many away games (including front row for the 3-0 v The Bees.)

Meet the Players

Stef has confirmed that he hasn’t been able to set this up for this year, so we’re sorry for the disappointment of missing out on one of the highlights of the year. LW felt that there might be too much at stake for a social event before Easter Monday.

Meet the riders Thursday 10th April in The Mall

We mentioned earlier that the landlord of the Fox at Shipley (Neil Taylor – @wolvesfox ) and Jason Guy (@wolvespremier) were joining the Paris – London cycle ride They’ve set off for Paris and expect to arrive back in the Mall on Thursday afternoon. Mark (@20markf) is planning to join them for the last mile – but would welcome any other London Wolves who can also get to the Mall to welcome them home. (Neil was also planning to run the Paris and London Marathons!) Neil is fundraising for the Birmingham Childrens’ hospital while with Jason’s partner Lucy undergoing breast cancer treatment he is supporting Breakthrough Breast Cancer in Lucy’s name http://www.justgiving.com/Lucy-Jason Follow Mark or Neil or Jason on Twitter for updates

Player of the Season 2013-14 voting

Voting is now closed for London Wolves Player of the Season. We’ll let you know later what the presentation plan is and when Stuart will announce the result of a very closely run contest. Equally close is likely to be the Wolves club vote which is also an on-line vote (otherwise get a voting slip from the ticket office or megastore) here http://www.wolves.co.uk//news/article/fans-player-of-the-year-vote-launched-040414-1466769.aspx Voting closes on Sunday week. Unfortunately there’s not an “all of them” option.

The League 1 run-in

Rotherham are also one point behind the Os with a game in hand which is at the Blades on Tuesday.

Wear your shirt for the Bobby Moore fund – Friday 19th April

April is bowel cancer awareness month so let's get together to do something simple and help save lives. Join us on Friday April 11th and wear your football shirt with pride. It doesn't matter who you support, whether your team is top of the league or struggling in the relegation zone just get your football shirt on and make a £2 donation to help beat bowel cancer sooner. We've made great progress in tackling bowel cancer and since the Bobby Moore Fund was established in 1993, mortality rates have fallen by 30%. But we can't stop there as sadly 43 people die of bowel cancer every day in the UK, that's almost 4 football teams. So spread the word and rally your work mates to wear their footie shirts this April. You don't need to be athletic, it doesn't matter what city you live in, united we can raise even more money for pioneering bowel cancer research.

One day we'll make Bobby proud and beat bowel cancer. With your help we can do it sooner.

Best wishes,

The Bobby Moore Fund Team

TRAVEL UPDATE April and May

Feb 2014

Stuart Hatwell

We were very sad to learn from Stuart’s brother Keith of his death after a short illness on February 3rd. Stuart and Keith have been Wolves supporters since the 50s (starting young!) and London Wolves members for a long time. Stuart and Keith are pictured here at one of their favourite WWLSC events, the Meet the Players, with Seyi George Olofinjana. This was the Glenn Hoddle era, and was just before the Reading match at the Mad Stad when Rohan Ricketts and a young Leon Clarke gained a 2-1 win. Leon was booked after a fracas with the antique Martin Keown, but gained his revenge as hit shot went off Keown for the winner.

Bees fans claim London Wolves fans are scared

The Besotted website team stumbled across London Wolves returning from the Golden Palace when they were on the way back from the Shrews doing us a favour and interviewed “a frightened Wolves fan”. Move forwards to about the 9th minute for the departure from Wolverhampton, the interview and his Bees 0 WW 5 forecast! http://beesotted.co.uk/?p=11232

The Beesotted guys are offering to meet up next Thursday in central London (possibly Islington or more central) 7:30-8:30 for more fun banter and interviews, and hope to be able to broadcast to YouTube live. We’ll let you know arrangements as soon as we can. Please let Peter W know on the train Saturday or reply to me if you might be interested. They are also kindly identifying some good pubs to meet up at pre-match. The Bees also have a petition open on YouGov to influence Boris for approval for their new ground – staying in Brentford - if you’d like to sign – details and link from the Beesotted site http://beesotted.co.uk/?p=11180

An event for the return to the “division from hell” John Hartson charity dinner Thurs 21st August

Jody’s testimonial chairman, Jason Guy, has arranged a Sporting Dinner with John Hartson in August in aid of Breakthrough Cancer. John himself was diagnosed with testicular cancer in 2009 and subsequently underwent successful chemotherapy and treatment despite it spreading to his lungs and brain and will be the guest speaker on Thursday 21st August 2014 at the Mount Hotel in Tettenhall, Wolves old players’ favourite haunt, to tell his amazing story. If you think you might be interested in attending please reply to this email or tell Dave or Roy that you are interested and we will see if we can get a table. Cost £40-£50 a head. Jason is cycling from Paris to London in April which is also fundraising at http://www.justgiving.com/Lucy-Jason

Coventry Fans

Stuart has been asked to ask if you will support the Coventry fans’ initiatives to return to Coventry rather than play at Sixfields by signing another YouGov petition. Although the direction is a bit out of kilter – the committee oversees the department – it may help to bring attention to the Football Governance Bill due for its first reading in June (Damian Collins MP, Folkestone & Hythe) especially if you write to your MP to seek her/his support to the bill. You can find your own MP’s contact details here http://www.parliament.uk/mps-lords-and-offices/ The petition details follow

Subject: HM Government e-petition: Keep Cov in Cov

As you all know, Coventry City is in the ludicrous position of having to play its "home" matches at the Sixfields Stadium in Northampton, 35 miles from Coventry. Coventry City fans would greatly appreciate your help in signing a petition to help bring our plight to the attention of the Government. We need 100,000 signatures for this to happen. If you think about it, what is happening at Coventry City is just one example of what is happening nationally to the game we love.

It will take you only a minute or two to do this. Please go to http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/59884 and add your name. And then please circulate this to others.

Many thanks!

FSF Safe Standing

the campaign achieved an important step forward this week with this headline: “League clubs say “yes” to safe standing” at

Tony Daley

Stuart also received this message from FootieBugs. You might have to endure a bit of Villa, but its a nice interview with Tony, and, if you’re interested in football coaching for youngsters, even a business opportunity. If you know someone who might be interested in coaching please pass it on.

Signings

You are probably aware that Wolves re-signed striker Nouha Dicko who was on loan with us last season and scored a proper fox-in-the-box goal against Burnley – funny what happens when you play a striker in a striker’s role. Nouha has signed permanently now which is great news – this season on loan at Rotherham he has scored a goal a game. At that rate maybe he can hit his shirt number, 40, this year for us. We met Nouha just before the season ended – he said all he wanted to do was get on the pitch and score.

And, surely if the team live up to his promise, the Wolves Captain for the next ten years, Danny Batth has also signed until 2017. (He signed for us last year!)

Is there no end to the boy’s talent?...

representing the “Beech Boys” Mark Feehan came up against a tough opponent in Chris on Monday 13th, but was he “Top Gun”? You can still catch the show on http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b03qgnky/Eggheads_Series_14_Episode_101/ for a few days

Here are Peter's provisional travel details for February and March matches:-

Oct 2013

Yes, it’s that time of the year again already – and Roy has booked our Christmas lunch. Peter will arrange an early train before the MK Dons match. Details below, including the menu. In the meantime, as you all know, this is Jody Craddock’s testimonial year, and Jody has a very special dinner at Molineux on November 14th, while our raffle at the Christmas lunch will be to support Jody’s charities. You will have noticed there have been some fixture changes. Finally, the Football Supporters’ Federation, of which we are members, are looking for FSF away fan reports, so if you can help and provide reports after any away game please do.

Across the Atlantic for this week's And Finally as LA Galaxy's Robbie Keane shows he's still got it with a "circus-trick" goal. We know this is only on the training pitch but it's still a pretty great artefact of just how skillful the best players are. Impressive stuff...

A brief news – with information from Stan about the U21 match next week on Monday against Arsenal. Wolves also play the JPT first round match v Notts County on Tuesday, which is live on Sky Sports.

Wolves U21 are at the Emirates on Monday 7th October with a 7pm kick off. Doors open 5:30. Tickets are £4 (£2 concessions) and are print-at-home e-tickets generally but there’s a booking fee of £1.20 and a charge of £2 for printing it yourself! Or you can ring them.

Message from the Express & Star archive project – Stuart has written on our behalf to support this, but they are looking for your views on its use.

We need your help to strengthen the bid to make the Express & Star's photo archive available digitally for free.

If you can spare five minutes of your time to fill out a short survey, we can use your views to ensure the plans meet the needs of the thousands of people we believe would be interested in using a future service.

At present, we have an estimated 750,000 photos stored in our offices. Many of these historic photos are beginning to deteriorate with time.

By giving your views on access, likely levels of usage and the benefit to the community, we can shape the bid to save the photos for future generations.

After an appeal for support was launched in August, more than 150 people and organisations have written in support of the bid.

Please take the time to complete the survey.

A brief update on the AGM and other events.

Saturday is also the Sir Bobby Robson National Football Day. http://nationalfootballday.thefa.com/

It is possible that the Walsall match at Molineux scheduled for Saturday 7th September will be moved to Tuesday 17th with a 7:45pm kick off. The 7th is an international weekend and WWFC are anticipating there may be enough international call-ups to request a delay. The same may happen to away fixtures at Carlisle and Notts County.

Congratulations to Wolves Women FC for their 5-1 win against the Foxes on Sunday. If you’re staying over after the Gills match don’t forget you’ll be welcome to watch the ladies in action at Castlecroft on Sunday afternoon (2pm ko) against Lewes in a PSF. Their season starts away at Derby on Sunday 25th August. More details here http://www.wolves.co.uk/news/article/wolves-women-win-at-foxes-050813-969275.aspx

AGM Venue / Time change – still Saturday 10th August now at 11:45am in The Lych Gate Tavern

44 Queen Square, Wolverhampton, West Midlands WV1 1TX 01902 399516.

The City Bar is under new management, and undergoing a major refit, which, unfortunately will not now be finished in time for the AGM. The Lych Gate is one of our favourite pubs with a good range of Black Country and guest ales. The London train arrives at 11:11 and we are starting earlier than planned at 11:45 so that you also have time to get food, as the Tavern normally only sells rolls, and also to beat the 1pm rush. The entrance is by St Peter’s Church Lych Gate, on the pedestrian route from Queen Square, by the Barclays Bank, to the subway to Molineux. Stuart looks forward to welcoming you all to the AGM. Peter should have match tickets available after the AGM is concluded.

Travel Change

The Crawley Town match at Molineux has been moved to Friday night 23rd August for Sky with a 7:45pm kick-off and Peter has rebooked trains.

London Wolves on Tour

A somewhat select group travelled internationally to support the team on it’s Scottish and Welsh and Molineux matches – thanks to Peg-Leg Peter and Dave for the pictures at http://www.londonwolves.com/html/preseas13.html

Traffic Alerts

Peter W has identified a facility for the travel pages to show current traffic alerts and these have been added to his travel page at http://www.londonwolves.com/html/travel.html#traffic and also to the mobile website http://mobile.londonwolves.com/html/traffic.html If driving then please ask your passenger to link to these pages or www.frixo.com

London Wolves Walk 2013 from the South Bank to the North Bank

Pictures are here http://www.londonwolves.com/html/walk2013.html Don’t miss the stripper in the (Tower) Bridge House pub, the Wolves fan behind the bar at the oldest pub on the river, The Mayflower, North Banker Mark on the South Bank, and the Gallows at the Prospect.

June 2013 = eTravel

Peter Woodifield has booked the travel for August and September. If you wish to attend a pre-season match as some members are travelling from London then please get directly in touch with him at peteraw@globalnet.co.uk

Former and re-joining member Mark Griffiths who runs On The Ball Travel and organises fan flights and trips has also arranged a long weekend for the Preston match with a Friday departure from Molineux and a detour to Blackpool, although you’ll have to be at the Moli before 10am to catch the coach. Details here http://www.ontheballtravel.com/wolves-away-travel/ Mark also organises travel for England and other games. and is already planning for Brazil so please take a look at his website!

Mel Eves, in his role as Wolverhampton Rotary President, has also written about a big event on July 17th at the Aldersley Village Centre supporting the Compton Hospice and other Rotary Charities and you can also use it to support a charity of your choosing to “set up” fundraising within an existing event. Money has been raised already for anyone to walk (or other) laps of the stadium http://www.wolverhamptonbestfootforward.com/

We hope also to see some early details of Jody’s testimonial events next month.

Don’t forget – Jim Heath’s memorial event on Sunday in Telford, the London Wolves Walk next week 11:00am Saturday July 7th starting in the Market Porter, Borough Market and the AGM before the Gills match. Upstairs in the City Bar, probably from 12:30, Saturday August 10th.

The Star has daily transfer rumours here http://www.expressandstar.com/sport/2013/06/26/transfer-rumours-june-26/ or http://www.expressandstar.com/sport/wolverhampton-wanderers-fc/ with Luke Murphy and Sam Ricketts fees agreed but competition expected while Dorus, Karl Henry, Wardy, Adam Hammill and O’Hara and Johnson are being shown the door (or, rather, where the door might be) and a miss on Martin Paterson.

June 2013-2 London Wolves Newsletter June 2013 + AGM

Attached is your June 2013 edition of the newsletter. Steve reports on the second half of a dismal season for the Club including (but tries to cheer you up with headlines such as “Solsacken” and “Big Time Lewes’ers”). On a happier note though, there were much better times for our sponsored Wolves ladies as well as the enjoyment of Roy’s events in West Sussex, the 1980 League Cup, Dave’s 50th, and events at Molineux. The new season’s fixture list is included while Chairman Earl claims to be spending more on postage than on beer! Steve has had to hold over some material until the Christmas edition when there will be more on the Chairman’s presentation at the Wolves Women end of season event.

Attached is an updated fixture list – apologies for the JPT and Saddlers date errors, and also if you received two copies. Wolves have also announced that the Capital One Cup match at Morecambe will be televised and have also arranged an additional pre-season friendly at East Fife on July 10th with an evening kickoff. Hopefully the “new David Platt” will be on board by then http://www.expressandstar.com/sport/wolverhampton-wanderers-fc/2013/06/26/wolves-could-land-the-next-david-platt/

Don’t forget the London Wolves walk on 6th July, Jim Heath’s memorial matches on 30th June, and the AGM which will be on 10th August in the City Bar. (Time/agenda will follow). This season is also Jody Craddock’s testimonial year – you can keep up to date with plans by following @JC6Testimonial on Twitter – with our friend Jason of the Wolves Allstars acting as committee chairman it promises to be a humdinger. Jason also has recently learned that his better half Lucy has been diagnosed with breast cancer and he has organised a golf event to fundraise for cancer charities. Details were in the last eNews.

Peter is busy booking travel this week so you’ll have the details very soon.

June 2013-1 : Fixtures 2013-14, Newsletter, Walk, AGM, Jody, Golf Day and Waggy

Here are the fixtures announced today plus the pre-season schedule and details of a Memorial Day for Jim Heath at St George’s Cricket Club, Telford, on Sunday June 30th (these are available and up-to-date on the fixtures page here )

If you would like to travel to any of the pre-seasons, especially the Real Betis game at Molineux, please contact Peter Woodifield before the end of this month. Match tickets for Real Betis are a tenner or less.

Steve will be publishing the Newsletter very soon – he waited until the fixtures were announced today. Thanks to Roy for finishing off the season in fine style in Sussex – the Newsletter will have pictures of this and of Stuart, Roy, Ruth, and Mark presenting the Wolves Women training tops at their end of season event at Molineux. The ladies consolidated their place in the premier division, while several of the younger teams achieved league and cup doubles – more in the magazine.

Don’t forget the London Wolves walk on 6th July, Jim Heath’s memorial matches on 30th June, and the AGM (probably) on 10th August in the City Bar. This season is also Jody Craddock’s testimonial year – you can keep up to date with plans by following @JC6Testimonial – with our friend Jason of the Wolves Allstars acting as committee chairman it promises to be a humdinger. Jason also has recently learned that his (much) better half Lucy has been diagnosed with breast cancer and he has organised a golf event to fundraise for cancer charities. Details follow.

You are all probably aware of Waggy’s heart attack earlier in the year. He is now also undergoing chemotherapy which started earlier this month and our best wishes, thoughts and prayers are with him and Val during this very trying year.

Travel from the historic South Bank by shanks’ pony, omnibus, train and boat via the North Bank to a destination towards (and beyond?) the Prime Meridian Line dividing east from west. From Jason Guy @premierwolves

First4Staff are holding our first Golf Day, the ‘First4Staff’ Charity Golf Classic on Wednesday 21st August 2013 at Oxley Park Golf Course in Wolverhampton.

The charities that will be benefitting from the day are various Breast Cancer charities (named on the day) and the West Park Rehabilitation hospital.

My partner Lucy was diagnosed with Breast Cancer last month aged 31. We remain positive as the Cancer has been caught at an early stage and she will soon be undergoing treatment and surgery. We will therefore be distributing funds between various local and national Breast Cancer charities to help support others who are diagnosed with this illness.

For non-golfers Jason has also set up a donation page at www.justgiving.com/jason-guy

Jim Heath

From: Charles Ross

Hi folks

A date for anybody who can make it! St Georges Cricket Club in Telford, on Sunday June 30th, are holding their Presidents Day in honour of Jim Heath.

Full details can be found here:

http://www.wolvesheroes.com/2013/06/08/time-for-whites-with-a-gold-and-black-tint/http://www.stgeorgescc.org.uk/2013/02/03/presidents-day-2013-in-memory-of-jim-heath/It would be great to see a sizeable contingent of Wolves fans there. Jim's family would be delighted to see you - they remain immensely grateful to London Wolves for your support at a very difficult time.
Jim's son Jack will be playing in the Juniors 20/20 game, and we are still working on getting some more Wolves ex-players for the afternoon game.
It would be great to have a good turnout presence if possible! Should be a cracking day.
And again - thanks to everyone who did what they could for the family of one of life's good guys.
Even if you did not know Jim personally - it should be a great day!

Thanks

Charles
